A bursary is a grant awarded to someone to further their studies at a tertiary institution, these vary in amounts. The company funding the student may, in return for funding their studies, require them to repay them by signing a work contract.
“A learnership is a work based learning programme that leads to an NQF registered qualification. Learnerships are directly related to an occupation or field of work, for example, electrical engineering, hairdressing or project management. Learnershipsare managed by Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs).” – South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)
